Because my concept of idealised feminity is a three-eyed, demon slaying Goddess of change and time.
I don't mean to be disrespectful to Kali in any way; I just liked the idea of turning something as vacuous, passive and inoffensive as a Barbie doll (originally one of the My Scene ones) in to the representation of a fierce, sensual, scary-ass Divine Mother.
This is technically a work in progress, as I need to find a demon head for her to hold. The sword is from a 'Subadai the Barbarian' figure, the extra arms were taken from various Barbies, the skirt was made by me, and the skull beads were purchased off Ebay. If her tongue looks lopsided, it's because part of it broke off while I was re-rooting some of the hair... Which had melted while I was cooking the tongue... Technically, she's suppossed to have fifty skulls around her neck to represent the Sanskrit alphabet, but I didn't have fifty beads. And I forgot to make her hands all bloody.
Hmmm. I think I need to buy a ringflash. Shiny black is a total pain to photograph - it's also annoyinbg to paint, as it's hard to see the brush. Anyhow, please see the enlarged version, as it looks slightly better.
Came out very nice. I'm surprised you used black instead of blue for her skin. Most people have overlooked the true meaning of her name, which means dark, or black and use the blue instead. All in all I like it very much.

Why is it that a bunch of kids can get away with saying they love Hitler, but I mention Gay Equal Rights and people get uncomfortable?

Fifty skulls would be really hard unless you had tiny, tiny skull beads. o.o
